Welcome to the Autumn edition of our quarterly newsletter.
Hard to believe that we’re nearly in December – where has the year gone!
The last few months have simply rushed past in a whirl of activities here at Gillhams. September saw the launch of our new Mediation Service created to help resolve disputes between families, professional deputies and public sector providers over what is in the ‘best interests’ of an incapacitated loved one. The launch precipitated the development of our first video for the website and articles on the topic, written by yours truly, published in Community Care – September 2nd, a social workers online magazine and the November newsletter from Solicitors For the Elderly. A short article on the benefits of using Mediation for families locked in conflict over the management of a mentally incapacitated relative’s affairs follows this introduction.
At the end of September we found out that Gillhams had been named as a Leading Firm in the 2013 edition of the UK Legal 500, with a particular recommendation for our Court of Protection services. Congratulations to David Taylor and Hina Tailor, who along with myself, were specifically mentioned in the write up.
In October we hosted our first free seminar at the iconic Wembley Stadium. The morning event hosted in a luxurious corporate box overlooking the Stadium, offered three very practical presentations from ourselves, Harris Lipman (accountants) and Forum Wealth Management (independent financial advisors) on planning for a secure future. After a light lunch most of us took a very entertaining and informative guided tour of the Stadium culminating in a team walk out onto the pitch accompanied by a sound-track of roaring fans! A real experience in all respects. Thanks to all of you who joined us for the day and we hope to see more of you at our next event. Watch this space….
