Managing partner Russell Caller – Court of Protection expert and accredited mediator recently completed Gillhams’ first round of Mental Capacity Act 2005 ‘best interests’ mediation trainings with London Boroughs – Redbridge and Barking/Dagenham.

During these 2-3 hour training sessions, participants learned about how to prepare for a mediation; how to conduct the mediation; and how to deal with settlement and follow-up. The training format was based on interactive discussion and real life scenarios (case studies) were used to help illustrate some of the important and challenging issues that commonly arise during a mediation process of this nature. For more information about Gillhams’ Court of Protection Mediation trainings see our Course Description.

Due to the success of these recent collaborations Russell and the Gillhams team plan to offer COP Mediation trainings to other Adult Social Care/Safeguarding teams across the London Boroughs throughout 2014. If you are a Local Authority decision-maker or part of an Adult Safeguarding team and would like to receive a training on Mediation for Court of Protection ‘best interests’ disputes or for any other Court of Protection issue, please contact us at solicitors@gillhams.com or by phone 020 8965 4266.
