Our Private Affairs Department provides advice to individuals on a wide range of subjects helping them to meet current needs and plan for the future.
We have acted for members of the same family over many years.
At difficult times when people are vulnerable we deal with matters sensitively, expeditiously, efficiently and always with a friendly smile.
We get to know our clients and having done so ensure that their needs are met always taking a commercial practical view on the problem thus ensuring that legal costs are kept to a minimum.
We always provide clients with a timescale, an estimate of overall costs and costs at each stage.
Because of the size and structure of the firm, we provide a personal service.
Wills
Some of our solicitors specialise in preparing of wills.
We offer a fixed fee for less complicated Wills and in keeping with our focus on personal service we make home visits to elderly or infirm clients. We advise on tax planning, lifetime transfers and inheritance tax.
We advise on the effectiveness of home made wills and the prospects of contesting improperly drafted wills.
We also deal with legacy disputes and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975 in cases where reasonable financial provision has not been made under a will.
Administration of Estates
We apply for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration to enable the administration of a deceased’s estate to proceed. We gather in the assets, pay off the liabilities and distribute the estate in accordance with the wishes of the deceased.
Receiverships & Court of Protection
Russell Caller our partner in charge is on the Panel of Receivers at the Court of Protection. As a Receiver he deal with the day to day management of clients who, due to old age and mental capacity are unable to deal with their own affairs. Russell is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Trustees and Attorneys
We act as trustees to family settlement trusts and as attorneys under Enduring Powers of Attorney for various incapacitated clients referred to us by a major care charity.
