Term: appeal

Legal proceedings to a higher court in a court hierarchy to argue that a judgment at a lower court in the court system is wrong on an issue of either fact or law.
Appeals in the UK court system are restricted both on the grounds of appeal and the time within which the appellant may lodge the appeal.
Usage: The appeal of the decision to the Court of Appeal from the County Court concerned a misinterpretation of the law.
