For a specific purpose. A committee, appointment, tribunal or report may be prepared or formed ad hoc to address a specific purpose or to meet a need or purpose that was not otherwise planned for or forming part of a pre-existing structure. Typically, ad hoc implied that temporary and transient measures are required to address a particular issue.
