[Latin: on the like matter] when a prior Act of Parliament deals with a matter that the Act in question deals with, it may be used as an interpretative aid to construction to resolve ambiguity or the intended effect of the Act.
Usage: The rule of statutory interpretation in pari materia applied to ascertain the purpose of the Act.
