Term: certiorari

Certiorari is an order of a Superior Court of Record in a court lower in the court hierachy calling up the records of that court for review or judgment. An order of certiorari is given by superior court to quash a decision of a lower court.
Usage: The High Court issued an order of certiorari over the COunty Court.
