Term: personal property
1.
Personal property in law is property that is not real property. As such it includes all moveable property and chattels which obviously includes goods.
Recovering personal property taken by another in civil law (as opposed to criminal law and the system of law on the Continent) was not possible from someone not in lawful possession. The actions of conversion and detinue are available to base a claim for damages, a solely pecuniary remedy.
