Term: exclusive licensee

An exclusive licensee is a legal person who has been granted a licence or a permission to use or enter upon some property to the exclusion of all others, including the owner of the property. Sometimes, special rights attach to these types of licensees, for instance exclusive licensees are entitled to commence proceedings for infringement of copyright in their own right, without the exclusive licensor being a party to legal proceedings.
Usage: An exclusive licensee commenced proceedings for copyright infringement.
