Term: assignor

An assignor is a legal person who assigns property that is owned by it. Property assigned may be real property, chose in action (for instance, contractual rights or intellectual property rights) or choses in possession.
Property is assigned by contract, by deed, by bequest or devise.
Usage: The assignor disposed of his interest under the contract.
